FILM RESTORATION

Dragon DI’s dedication to film restoration is simply without equal. We throw everything we have at it and have, on more than one occasion, invented our own software to solve particularly difficult or obscure restoration problems. As a result of this total commitment, in 2006, our first year of operation, we came within an ace of taking the FOCAL International Award for Film Restoration with our work on ‘The Battle of the Somme’. Here is what David Walsh, Head of Preservation at the Imperial War Museum had to say:

"The Imperial War Museum Film and Video Archive entrusted the restoration of one of our most treasured works, the 1916 film The Battle of the Somme, to Dragon DI in 2006.  Because of the film´s age and early popularity, it proved to be a considerable challenge to extract the best possible images from the often damaged and degraded originals.

Dragon DI rose enthusiastically to this challenge and it is a tribute to their efforts that this expertly rejuvenated film now enjoys a whole new lease of life."
